GNM Nursing:

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) training course is of 3 years duration with English as the medium of instruction. Apart from theoretical training in classrooms,the practical hospital training would be of paramount importance. The course shall also include field training in community nursing and midwifery. The General Nursing & Midwifery programme aims at preparing nursing professionals.

Eligibility

Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with any subjects. Foreign nationals: (including Nepali, Bangladeshi, Bhutani, and Tibetan refugee) for admission to Diploma Nursing (GNM) program candidates should have qualified 12th standard obtained by association of Indian University / Institution / Council or equivalent.

What after GNM?

One can work at Hospitals, Private clinics, Schools, and Rehabilitation centres as Home Care Nurse, Infection control Nurse , ICU nurse and OT nurse. One can also study further for Post Basic Nursing (which would make it equivalent to B.Sc. Nursing) after which they can even work in Educational Institutions besides Hospitals.

B.Sc Nursing :

The Basic B.Sc Nursing is a 4 years degree programme affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University Health Science, Bangalore, and Karnataka. This programme is approved by Karnataka State Nursing Council & India Nursing Council.

The programme aims at preparing the students to be competent professional nurses with scientific innovative ideas in solving health problems and in delivering quality health care. Nursing is an important profession related to the field of medicine. Students are given exposure to the theoretical and practical education and the courses are moulded to imbibe the essence of both. We make sure the student has hands on knowledge in every aspect of the course.

The Courses are also designed to develop abilities to work with other specialist medical and paramedical personnel, devise and demonstrate disease prevention and health promotion programmes, integrated principles of hygiene are taught in the course.

We aim to prepare graduate nurses to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing primitives, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services. We nurture students towards the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical/public health setting/Nursing Education.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have passes two years of Pre University examination of Karnataka or an equivalent examination as prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi university of Health Sciences, with Science subjects-(Physics , Chemistry, Biology) & English, should score at least 45% in the Science subjects(40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST).

The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the Admission year.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing:

The Post B.Sc Nursing is a 2 years degree programme affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University Health science, Bangalore, Karnataka. This programme is approved by Karnataka State Nursing Council & Indian nursing Council. The health care sector has witnessed rapid development is in recent years and the nursing professionals who are part of health system too have had a dynamic growth rate.

The PB Bsc. Nursing programme is aimed at preparing young professionals to presume responsibility as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, clinical specialist by providing advanced knowledge which is rendered through classroom & clinical teachings and educational visits. The scope encompasses nursing educational institutions, clinical nursing and public health nursing in community settings. The examinations are held annually.

Eligibility

• Candidate should be a registered Nurse and registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
• No Candidate who is above 48 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission will be eligible.
• Foreign nationals: (including Nepali, Bangladeshi, Bhutani, and Tibetan refugee) seeking admission to Post Basic B.Sc Nursing program must have valid certificate of registered nurse by their own country.
• Be medically fit
